Earlier this year, Women’s Health Month in May served as a powerful reminder of the importance of empowering women to prioritize their wellbeing across all dimensions: reproductive, mental, physical, and emotional health. At the intersection of these elements lies the profound connection between motherhood and womanhood, highlighting how critical comprehensive healthcare is for women worldwide.
Revvity joins Women's Health Hub Finland: advancing innovation in women's healthcare
Revvity is proud to be part of the Women's Health Hub Finland, a collaborative ecosystem dedicated to advancing innovations in women's health through research, technology, and strategic partnerships. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes for women worldwide.
Addressing the gap in women's health
For decades, women's health has been underrepresented in medical research and innovation. Despite comprising half of the global population, women's unique health needs have often been overlooked or inadequately addressed. This disparity has led to delayed diagnoses, limited treatment options, and poorer health outcomes.
Each year, over 40 million women experience long-term health complications following childbirth, ranging from physical conditions such as low back pain and incontinence to mental health challenges like anxiety and depression. Many of these issues extend well beyond the typical postnatal care period, leaving women to manage complex health needs with limited support.
Despite advancements in maternal care, maternal mortality remains a critical global health challenge. In 2023, an estimated 260,000 women lost their lives due to pregnancy-related causes. The global maternal mortality rate was 197 deaths per 100,000 live births, highlighting a significant gap from the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target of fewer than 70 deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030.¹ Alarmingly, the United States reported a maternal mortality rate of 18.6 deaths per 100,000 live births, a figure that remains notably higher than most other high-income countries, underscoring persistent disparities even in well-resourced healthcare systems.
These figures highlight the urgent need for equitable access to quality maternal care, especially in underserved communities.
At Revvity, we see this historical underinvestment not only as a healthcare disparity but also as an opportunity to drive meaningful change. By joining the Women's Health Hub Finland, we are committing to being part of the solution, leveraging our scientific expertise and technological capabilities to address these longstanding gaps.
The role of screening and preventive care
Early detection and consistent monitoring are essential to improving maternal outcomes. Revvity is advancing this mission through our commitment is reflected in several key areas of innovation:
- Advanced screening technologies that help identify potential complications during pregnancy.
- Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) that delivers critical fetal health insights
- Preeclampsia screening, enabling earlier identification of a condition that affects 5–8% of pregnancies and is a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death.
We also support reproductive health research through our analytical instruments and reagents, helping scientists explore conditions like endometriosis, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and infertility.
These conditions affect millions of women globally yet remain underdiagnosed and undertreated.
The power of collaboration
The Women's Health Hub Finland unites a diverse network of stakeholders, including pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies, research institutions, and public sector stakeholders, with a shared mission: to transform women's healthcare through innovation and collaboration.
This approach aligns seamlessly with our mission to accelerate the discovery and development of insights that improve human health. Through this ecosystem, we gain access to valuable partnerships, shared knowledge, and co-creation opportunities that address real-world challenges in women's health.

Looking ahead
The future of women’s health is being shaped by a growing recognition that one-size-fits-all solutions are no longer acceptable. Personalized care, mental health integration, and digital innovation are becoming the new standard. As awareness grows and technology evolves, we are entering an era where women’s health is not just a niche concern but a central pillar of healthcare innovation.
The journey toward equitable healthcare for women is ongoing. But through strategic partnerships like this, we’re taking significant steps forward. By combining our scientific capabilities with the diverse expertise of the Women's Health Hub Finland, we aim to help build a future where women’s health needs are fully recognized, researched, and addressed.
